Welcome to SWS (digital).
We have always known that students thrive when we work together with you, the family. This isn't what we had in mind, but our commitment to our students has never been stronger! We don't have all the answers, but we are ready to partner with you school year 2020-21.
Welcome from Mr. Burst

Reopen Strong
Dear SWS Community,
Yesterday, Mayor Bowser and Chancellor Ferebee announced DCPS’ plans to reopen one classroom per grade level starting November 9th. All information about the #ReOpenStrong plan for Term 2 can be found on the DCPS Reopen Strong website. This is the best and most up to date resource about Virtual Learning and ReOpening.
You can go to the Updates tab to find the letter from the Chancellor that was emailed to families yesterday. By accessing the Schedules tab, you will find information about the Term 2 schedule, including the FAQ for the student selection process. There is no school specific information to share at this time. Please note that the Chancellor's letter includes a meeting link to a community information session tonight at 5:30pm. The meeting is for all members of the DCPS community - families, school administrators, teachers, and staff. (Join us using the link bit.ly/dcpsreopenstrong on Tuesday, October 6 at 5:30pm.)
Additionally, together with the SWS Manager of Strategies and Logistics, Shawna Friedman, I will be hosting an SWS Zoom Town Hall on Tuesday, October 13, at 8pm. Join using this link:

A Message from our Coaches:
If you have questions about academics, you can email us for help. We are looking forward to working with you this year!

~Tina DeAnna and Maurice Tome!
Please make sure your child has had a full breakfast and taken care of their bathroom needs when they log onto Canvas.
To help students prepare for a school-like setting, please ensure that they are in school appropriate attire (short, pants, shirts, dress, etc). This will help them transition mentally from a home setting to a school setting.
Create a space that children can use each day as they access Canvas. Assist them in creating this space with the proper supplies that the school has provided and ensure that materials are available each day for learning. Children should separate their schools supplies from every day use to help build that home to school transition.
